Report & Results: QUIRINDI POLO CARNIVAL, 15 & 16 September 2012

Four 9 goal teams contested the Northern Champions Challenge Cup hosted by The Quirindi Polo Carnival Club on September 15 & 16. Saturday's Semi Finals had Scone White defeating Scone Red to book an encounter with North Star who played great polo to narrowly defeat Ellerston. North Star (Angus Gilmore, Nick Benson , Will Gilmore and Simon Doolin) fought their way to a lead of 3-1 after 2 chukkas only to see Scone White (Alex Warner, Brad Beatson , Ed Archibald and Jack Archibald) run over the top of them by 7 goals to 5 after five exciting chukkas of polo.

The Eric Cadell cup for B grade was won by Earl Herbert's Segenhoe side with Catriona Murphy , Royston Murphy and Jack McCullagh over Quirindi led by Dick Doolin with uncle Rob Doolin, Rob Davies and Andrew Badgery.

C Grade Robert Simson Cup saw the boys from over the range at Timor, Peter Haydon, Cole Aguirre, Gus Aguirre and Brett Allan defeat the local hopefuls in Tamarang led by Jim Henry with Mick Hockey, veteran Dennis Lee and James Simson.

D Grade Cowdery Cup was contested over the two days and after eight chukkas, Scone Blue with Amanda Burns, Will Hunt, Gus Henry and legend Bill Bishop were just too strong for Tamarang B with Darren Greentree, Henry Holcombe, Scott Chambers and most improved local Andrew Campbell, to take home silver.

Will Gilmores Tinka Tap was champion A grade pony.
Ed Archibald had team of ponies.
Dick Doolin had champion B grade pony with Linique.
Haydon Luna was champion C grade pony owned by Peter Haydon and D grade pony was ridden by Will Hunt .

The A Grade teams will play for the magnificent Northern Challenge Cup this weekend.

The B Grade play for the Cadell Cup, C Grade for the Simson Cup & D Grade for the Cowdry Cup.
