Wirragulla Polo Club , Dungog played their annual tournament the “Austcorp Hunter Polo Challenge “ on November 1 & 2 after being too wet to play in September .

This time the weather was ideal and the ground, with good grass cover, was ready for fast polo. Crowd numbers were strong on both Saturday and Sunday enjoying the picturesque location.

The games on Saturday resulted in Scone B 4.5 goals defeating Wirragulla B 3 goals . Ellerston 7 defeated Scone A 5.5 goals and Wirragulla A 7goals defeated Adelaide 5.

The finals on Sunday saw tight , tactical polo . The Alison Cup for B Grade was won by Scone B with 9 goals to Wirragulla B , 5 goals. The Skene Cup saw Scone A victorious over Adelaide 9.5 to 2 goals.

The A Grade finals for the Mackay Cup and the Austcorp Hunter Polo Challenge Trophy resulted in the home team Wirragulla A 1 goal were outplayed by the strong Ellerston team hitting 10 goals .

The event supports the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the date for Wirragullas’ 2009 tournament will be October 31 and November 1

The Austcorp Hunter Polo Challenge at Wirragulla Polo Club ground, Tabbil Creek, Dungog has been rescheduled for November 1 & 2 .


Wirragulla Polo Club invites individuals and clubs to nominate for the Austcorp Hunter Polo Challenge to be held at our ground at Dungog on 1st & 2nd of November 2008.
