STOP PRESS - NSWPA COACHING CLINIC - GAVIN CHAPLIN

Dear Club Presidents & Secretaries,

STOP PRESS - NSWPA COACHING CLINIC - GAVIN CHAPLIN
18 – 21 March, Hawkesbury

The South African world cup polo team coach, Gavin Chaplin will be in NSW for a series of coaching schools in March. NSWPA has taken the opportunity to invite him to run an exclusive coaching session as part of our Player Development Programme.

It is an initiative aimed at offering players with talents the opportunity to receive training from a professional polo coach. Our aim is to lift the standard and skill base of our NSW polo players. The Development players have been identified as 0 to 4 goal players striving to excel in the sport and who appreciate the benefits of receiving coaching.

Based on requests from players, there will be a focus on coaching players in competitive chukkas culminating in coached Exhibition Matches on Easter Friday.

Dates: 18 – 21 March – 4 days
Eligible: All NSW players 0 – 4 goals
Programme: Am – individual/small group technical coaching
Pm – coached chukkas
Easter Friday – 21 March - Coached Exhibition Chukkas – teams will be created to make it competitive

• Players will be split in to groupings and offered coaching on an individual and group basis at no charge to the player.

• The emphasis will be on playing chukkas at pace with all games videoed and analysed. Players will be coached on individual technique and team tactics.

• There will also be sessions on rules, hitting, riding skills and pony schooling.

• Players will require a minimum of 3 ponies, preferably more to participate fully in chukkas. (Wal Ashton has kindly offered to lend out ponies to competent riders should you not be able to transport horses into the Hawkesbury for any reason)
