KIDS HOLIDAY FUN WITH A DIFFERENCE: Learn To Play Polo Junior Holiday Clinics

Willo Polo will conduct Learn to Play Polo clinics for kids during the Christmas holidays. The clinics will be held at the magnificent Sydney Polo Club complex in Richmond and utilise their facilities including a full size indoor arena. Held each Monday from 10am – 3pm beginning 12 December, children are able to bring their own ponies or lease a quiet school horse from Willo Polo. The clinics aim to teach the basics of polo including rules, shots, tactics and care of ponies.

Andrew Williams is the New South Wales Polo Assocation’s Senior Coach, a five goal professional and has also captained the Australian World Cup team. He is a father of three and holds clinics and lessons year round. Participants often comment on his ability to generate enthusiasm and to teach whilst keeping the fun factor.

Having started to play polo at the age of 12, Andrew says “Polo is a lot of fun and can be played by people of all ages. My oldest client is 67 and youngest is 9”.

“We’re hoping Polo in Australia can become like the U.S and English examples where hundreds of Pony Club riders participate in Polo”.
Participants will begin on a “wooden horse” and practice swinging a mallet before learning the basic shots with foot mallets and engaging in an off the horse scrimmage. The day will progress to the indoor arena with everyone learning what great fun polo can be.

Children wishing to attend the clinic must be aged 7 - 16 and must be able to ride independently.

Cost is $80 per day and $15 for New South Wales Polo Association insurance contribution. Lunch, refreshments and full supervision will be provided.
