WIRRAGULLA POLO CLUBS’ ANNUAL TOURNAMENT, THE PRYDE’S EasiFeed HUNTER POLO CHALLENGE 2010.

October 23 / 24 were the dates set on NSW Polo Associations’ calendar and the Club had all arrangements and players finalised until extra matches were put on at Windsor without notice which attracted some of the players who had agreed to play at Wirragulla.

Despite this, Wirragulla prevailed and assembled a top line up of players including three from the UK to contest the historic trophies of the Club.

Saturday saw our sponsors and a good crowd witness some excellent polo on the ground which was true and fast. The evening was enjoyed by about 200 players, grooms and supporters in the marquee. Lillies and Limes catering exceeded expectations and our friends at Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service arranged for guest storyteller Murray Hartin to entertain the diners. The live band and the Tulloch wines tended to mask the rain that started to fall.
Sunday dawned overcast with persistent showers and at 10.00am the decision had to be made to cancel all play. However in true country style the ladies had prepared lunch and around fifty supporters enjoyed this in the marquee.

Following the results of the matches on Saturday, the host club were looking forward to seeing both Wirragulla A and B teams playing in the finals.
Saturdays’ results –

B GRADE, match 1. Scone 5 defeated Qurindi B , 3
Match 2. Wirragulla B 9 defeated Sledmere 1.5

A GRADE, match 1. Timor 4 defeated Qurindi A 2
Match 2. Wirragulla A 5 defeated Foxton 2.5
