SCONE ANNUAL TOURNAMENT CANCELLED: 29 & 30 SEPTEMBER 2007

Cancellation of all Spring Polo

It is with regret that the Club has now been forced to cancel all its Spring Polo due to the outbreak of Equine Influenza. This is in line with all other polo clubs which have had to make the same decision not to play any polo this spring.

The present policy of containment has led to a total shut down of all horse activity in the state. The continuation of this strategy means clearance will only be given 30 days after the last horse in an area is infected. Even with the most favorable of outcomes our spring polo would still be affected.

If horses are infected now it would be unlikely they would recover in time to play in the spring.

If the containment strategy proves unsuccessful and a move is made towards a vaccination program again time will beat us this spring.

Given all these situations we have unfortunately had the decision made for us.
